Nanoforce Technology Ltd

Nanoforce Technology Ltd

Nanoforce Technology Ltd is a spin-out company from the Department of Materials, Queen Mary University of London. It was set up as a part of the Micro and Nanotechnology Network funded by the Technology Strategy Board (TSB) and the London Development Agency (LDA). Its remit is to exploit micro- and nano-technology and to disseminate the results to industry and academia for the development of products and processes. Nanoforce benefits from a vast array of polymer processing equipments, including compounding, transforming and coating. Among the characterisation tools that Nanoforce has direct access to there are universal tensile test machines, AFM, SEM, TEM, rheometry, FTIR, DMA, DSC, TGA, UV-Vis, XRD etc.

Nanoforce main technical contribution to NanoSynth will be the small scale dispersion experiments, in support of the development of pilot scale dispersion equipments and methods (in close collaboration with Maelstrom Advanced Process Technologies), as well as the characterisation of the extent and quality of nanoparticles dispersion. This will be done via optical, electron and atomic force microscopy and via rheological experiments. Nanoforce will also work in collaboration with the end-users (B/E Aerospace and Bombardier Aerospace) to establish the most efficient use of the exfoliated graphene suspensions generated by NanoSynth for the final products.

Nanoforce has very strong experiences in polymer nanocomposites and dispersion of nanoparticles in polymer matrices, accumulated over the past 7-8 years, which will be functional to the success of the project.
